Clean the beard, not just the face
Beards collect oil, food and dust. Wash with a gentle beard wash or mild cleanser a few times a week, and rinse daily with water. Regular face wash can be too drying for beard hair.
Moisturise underneath
Itchiness and flakes often come from dry skin under the beard. A few drops of beard oil worked into the skin, not just the hair, keeps both comfortable.
Comb and shape
Comb your beard daily in the direction of growth to train it and spot uneven areas. Keep your neckline about two fingers above the Adam's apple — trimming it too high is the most common mistake.
Get a professional shape
Even if you trim at home, a professional shape every few weeks sets clean lines that you can follow. Pair it with a haircut so your beard and hair stay balanced.
Don't forget skin
Use sunscreen on exposed skin, and consider a cleanup or de-tan every few weeks to keep skin clear, especially if you spend time outdoors.
